Tryouts Underway
For All Sports

Maccabi Canada’s National Athletic Committee is proud to report that tryouts are underway for all sports. Athlete interest and turnout for all tryouts has been outstanding, we have received registrations from athletes in Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Nova Scotia and even Saskatchewan. The number of interested athletes and their location is an indication of the effectiveness of Maccabi Canada’s extensive athlete outreach across the country.

Due to overwhelming interest, additional sports have been added to our list of sports. Tryouts will soon be scheduled soon for Junior Female Volleyball, Masters Fencing and Masters Hockey. Another new sport announced by Maccabi World Union in Israel is the MaccabiMan/Woman Endurance Challenge.

Many sports such as Volleyball, Cricket, Softball and Golf ran successful tryout camps and we are looking forward to additional tryouts in Baseball, Gymnastics and Rugby.

Hockey, Basketball and Soccer have had preliminary Regional Tryouts held and are now entering into final Invitation Only National Tryouts. Some teams have already been selected and will be publicised soon.

Keep in mind that some individual sports including Swimming, Track and Field and the various Martial Arts, will not be holding tryouts. Athletes interested in these sports should refer to our standards page to see whether they qualify.

These are very exciting times at Maccabi Canada as athletes are qualifying to join the Canadian delegation to the 2013 Maccabiah in Israel. Follow us on Facebook to find out which athletes made the team and to be the first to receive news and information.

We want to thank Alex Brainis, our NAC chair and Ashley Kochman our Athletic Director for leading the selection process and all our coaches, assistant coaches, managers and volunteers for running these tryouts in an organized and a professional manner.
